French Open: ALL French single players out of Roland Garros competition in the 2nd round. First in 53 years now.
For the first time since 1968, none of the French players, both men, and women, qualified for 3rd round of the French Open competition.
Really, it’s something that has never happened for the past 53 years. On the men’s side, the last players that were eliminated last Thursday afternoon and night were Richard Gasquet and Gael Monfils. On the women’s side, only 3 players qualified for the 2nd round but were all eliminated and none qualified for the 3rd round.
This is a very sad result for the French tennis federation.
Last year was no different. The french players both men and women did not go far only that this year’s French Open is the worst for the French.
Where is the french tennis future heading to? Hugo Gaston and Corentin Moutet pulled a lot of weight last year and the French believed that these new players will go far in this year’s Roland Garros. But they were all disappointed with their performance with many of them not even making it to the second round.
The only hope they have now is the men’s double with P.H Herbert and N. Mahut. They will be playing the semi-final on Tuesday on the court Simonne-Mathieu.
